I got a surprising letter today
I look at the long distance owl. Not one I recognize. I take the letter from it and give it some water and a treat. Poe looks at it jealously. I open the letter and begin to read.

I look at the inventory I made of magical creatures in the Forbidden Forest . . . should make for good lessons, but . . . I look at my book again of magical creatures of warmer climes. Lots of magical reptiles and amphibians that don't come as far north as Scotland would be great to teach about. I think of the witch who rented me Griffins last year. She might have some ideas. I need to talk to her about setting things up for Griffins again anyway.

It's time I take my wife out and remind her of why I love her. Severus was right on that account. It's a wonder I'm not on the sofa already.
I send Poe to the Daily Prophet.
Sparrow,
When you finish at work, meet me at the Shrieking Shack. Wear Muggle fancy clothes.
He's getting older, I notice as he takes off. I will need to retire him in another year, I realize with a sudden pang. He's been a good friend since I first tamed him in Romania.
I then change into Muggle clothes and disapparate to Bath. I get reservations at Casanis on Saville Road--French food should be something she likes. Then I walk to the Theatre Royal Bath and get seats to tonight's performance of You Can't Take It with You.
Then I wander through town and choose a room for tonight. I end up taking one at the Barcelo Grove Manor. Now I just have to wait for Megan at home until it's time to meet at the shack. Her birthday isn't a for several more days, so she won't be expecting a surprise.
This is not my day . . .
I look at the list of what I need to do . . . get dress robes altered, pick up book. My robes wouldn't have needed it if I had let the elves at Hogwarts wash them instead of doing it myself. I may need to replace them, but I hope not. Megan and I need to be conservative with our galleons.
I head into Glad Rags, looking for the tailor.
I talk to the tailor, only to be told that my robe is not repairable. She then proceeds to begin pressuring me to buy a new one. I duck out of her way. I will just have to make this one do for now. Maybe Mum can help me make it better.
I get out of there as quickly as I can, then I can go to check and see if the new book I ordered on dangerous magical creatures of South America has arrived yet. Five minutes later I enter the book store.
"Miss," I ask at the counter. "Do you have an order in for Professor Weasley?"
She grins at me. "Let me see," she says, checking a list. "You ordered Dangerous and Magic: Beasts of the Amazon Jungle, right?"
"Yes, I did," I tell her, "You have it in then?"
"No, it's on back order. Sorry." I hide my frustration and go to look at other books.
I come back from the afternoon with Bill, having had enough ale and pizza to keep me satisfied, although not more than I can handle. I put the half box of pizza on the table. "Megan, I'm back. I brought you some leftover pizza."

Megan has to work even though I have a few days off. ( Read more... )
I get home, realizing I haven't just had a quiet talk with Megan in awhile. Sometimes she's hard to open up. Maybe a walk. I open the door. "Megan, I'm home."

I sit at the breakfast table next to Severus. I want to talk to him, although maybe not here. Perhaps he can meet with me later. I pass the plate of sausages and the eggs to him. "Do you have some time open in your schedule today for a little chat?" I ask casually.

I awaken early, ready to go to work, then remember I have the morning off. I turn and look at Megan, sleeping restlessly by my side. I stroke her hair out of her face, then kiss her softly. "Sweetheart? Wake up."

Back at school today, lots of the students asked me about my honeymoon, complete with whistles and innuendo. I couldn't wait to get home and to my bride. I finish talking with the last student, then head down the hill to Hogsmeade. Ten minutes later I open the door to my house.
